<LI>Control Panel / StarTap / StarBar brings up the dialog StarBar Properties. Here, you can enable and customize a Taskbar that we think is about 8 ways better than the one that comes with Windows CE. On the left side of the bar, you can elect to show a button for the Start Menu, and for the Keyboard, just as you have now (but, as you'll see, there are more efficient ways of invoking these functions!).
<LI>To the right of these is an optional Application Tray. Drag a shortcut from StarTap's desktop down to the StarBar and release it. A small icon will appear. This is a shortcut, just like StarTap's, but it's <I>always</I> there. For those applications that you always want immediate access to, stick 'em here.
<LI>Next to the Application Tray are the Task Buttons. For each Task, or program, that is currently running on your machine, there's a button. Tap on the button to switch to that application.
<LI>Finally, there's the System Tray. This includes the icons that are currently in the tray on the regular Taskbar, plus a System icon, and the clock / calendar.
<LI>These last two have special functionality, so read carefully! Each of these icons has five separate functions, which can be invoked through a tap, a double tap, a tap up, tap left, or tap right. "Tap up", etc. refers to a tap followed by a short, quick drag in the indicated direction. Just exactly what these functions do, can be completely configured by you.
<LI>In the StarBar Properties dialog, there are two sets of five function assignments, for the "Sys" functions, and the "Clock" functions. Sys functions refer to taps and drags on the Windows System (flag) icon. The Clock Functions are invoked by tapping and dragging on the clock / calendar. The default actions are these:<BR><BR>
Sys Tap: TaskBar - Display the original TaskBar (hide StarBar)<BR>
Sys Double Tap: Desktop - Show the Active Desktop<BR>
Sys Tap-Up: Keyboard - Show / Hide the keyboard<BR>
Sys Tap-Left: Find - The Find function from the Start Menu<BR>
Sys Tap-Right: Help - Similarly for Help<BR>
Clock Tap: Explorer<BR>
Clock Double Tap: World Clock<BR>
Clock Tap-Up: StarTap Desktop<BR>
Clock Tap-Left: Close Task<BR>
Clock Tap-Right: StarTap Taskbox<BR><BR>

Shift - Press Shift key (Sys icon changes to "S")<BR>

Hide SB - Hide the StarBar (tap at the bottom of the screen to show it)

<LI>To <I>hide</I> the contents of the original System Tray, remove the check from Tray.
<LI>A volume control can be placed next to the System icon, by putting a check mark next to Vol. Tap on the icon once to Mute / Play, and double tap to adjust the volume.
<LI>You may notice that the StarBar doesn't always update the status of the Tray icons correctly or immediately. Put a check mark next to Update, and they'll get updated once a minute. Select Update SB as one of the icon functions, and you can update them manually with a single tap.
<LI>Finally, since there may not be enough room to show all the currently running tasks as buttons, you can scroll them. Tap on the clock, and drag to the left <I>without releasing the pressure</I>. The Task Buttons will pick up and slide left and right with the movement of the stylus. When you've found the one you're after, release the stylus, and tap the button.
<LI>There is also an <I>optional</I> third icon that can be added to the tray: the StarTap icon. Near the bottom of the Action combo box, there are five entries for this icon, just as for the other two. By default, all of these are Disabled, and the icon doesn't show at all. Assign one or more functions to it, and it'll appear in the tray.
